Beautiful Lavender! If you think you’ve smelt Lavender before, think again. This beautiful oil has a subtlety often missing in cheaper commercial blends.
The doTERRA therapeutic Lavender Oil is great for many uses. I rub it on the soles of my feet each night to help me sleep (and boy does it work!) and as a lovely touch, I put a few drops in a spray bottle and spray our bed and pillows each morning so we always have a fresh bed to return to in the evening.
I’m using Lavender Oil to treat a burn on my arm. It’s helped to soothe the initial pain and itchiness and seems to be healing cleanly and quickly too.
It’s also great to add a few drops to dryer balls for fresh natural smelling clothing from the tumble dryer (much better than shop bought harsh chemicals!).
It’s amazing at taking away feelings of stress, just by placing a few drops on the back of your neck or temples. And it adds a wonderful twist to citrus dishes, baked goods and even hot chocolate.
Wild Orange was my first encounter with doTERRA Essential Oils and I felt connected to it immediately. It’s been my daily perfume since and I love its cheery tones when I get a sudden waft – never fails to put a smile on my face. I use argan oil to get rid of post wash frizz, and I’ve added a few drops of wonderful Wild Orange to it too, so even my hair smells uplifting throughout the day.
It’s also a great oil to use to boost the immune system, essential at this time of year. It’s a wonderful cleanser. I use it, along with a few drops of lemon, to clean around the house as they are both natural purifiers. You can even put 3 drops of Wild Orange down the loo to get rid of nasty grime! One to try at home: add a few drops of Wild Orange to some olive oil and a touch of vinegar and you’ll have an amazing polish for wood.
But my favourite thing to do with Wild Orange is to add a few drops to a mix of brownies or a hot chocolate. Tastes of pure indulgence but you know it’s doing you good too!
Peppermint is a great oil for anyone sporty as it’s a natural pick me up. Add a drop to a glass or cold water (or a cup of hot) and you’ve got an instant mood enhancer. Studies have shown that athletes who regularly took peppermint before their events increased the performances and crushed their PBs! I’m in for that reason alone.
Of course, peppermint is a natural breathe freshener, and a drop of peppermint swilled with a drop of lemon in a little water is the ideal breathe freshener. I’ll be making a lovely Whipped Peppermint Foot Lotion with mine soon as well, so look out for that in my blog.
Peppermint is a great addition to food and as most doTERRA oils are food grade, it’s perfect to add a drop to brownies, coconut ice, fondants, ice creams and sorbets. Yum.
We’ve got Peppermint dotted around entry points to the house on cotton wool balls (hidden!) because Peppermint is a NATURAL DETERANT TO BUGS AND SPIDERS!! Need I say more to convince you that this is a SuperOil!
DoTERRA call this a metabolic blend. Its mixture of grapefruit, cinnamon, ginger, lemon and peppermint can limit food cravings and therefore support a weight loss or weight management programme. I think it’s one of the loveliest smelling oils and love to have this fresh scent in my diffuser. The weight management (for me) is a work in progress so I’ll keep you posted!
There’s a whole stack of uses for Lemon Oil, but I’m using mine mainly as a lovely morning wake up. Just add a drop to a cup of boiling water in the morning for a refreshing start to the day. I’ve added a drop or two to soup as well, giving a lovely lift to a Roast Parsnip Soup.
Lemon is great for cleaning too, and I use a few drops, combined with Wild Orange, and a splash of vinegar in water to help with cleaning wood. I know there’s much more I could do with it – at the moment I’m working it into my cleaning routine.
